Deaths In The Family

The blog has been quiet, but life hasn't been. My father passed away Oct 23 and my mother-in-law passed away Oct 26. My father died at home of a heart attack, and my wife and I were there. My mother-in-law passed away after suffering from Alzheimer's for years. We are all in God's hands.

We welcome comments. However, use no profanity and be civil.

Our deepest sympathies to you and your family, Kevin. My Mom just came home from the hospital under hospice care, so I myself will be writing a similar post before too long.

Kevin and family -

Have you ever heard of the Stephen Ministry program?

http://www.stephenministries.org/

They provide Christian caring with a trained layperson. Obviously you and your wife have a lot going on in your lives right now, with the loss of two parents. A Stephen Minister will meet with you once a week just to talk and listen; unlike your spouse and co-workers, they don't get tired of hearing about the same problem week after week. If your congregation does not have the program, perhaps your pastor can direct you to another local Stephen Ministry group. Even if you feel that you're doing okay, it's still good to have someone outside your immediately affected family to talk with.

My family and I will pray for you tonight.
